III. Creating Installation Media
****************************************************************************

    Note
    ----

You can only create installation media from Windows.

To create installation media from the ExpressSAS 6Gb Installation CD:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Insert the Installation CD into a CD or DVD drive and the
installation will automatically start. If the ExpressSAS
installation does not start, navigate to the root of the CD and
        run 'autorun.bat'.

    2. Select "DOS/BIOS" from the items on the left side of the screen.

    3. Select "Create Installation Media" and follow the instructions
        for creating the installation media.

To create installation media from an ExpressSAS 6Gb download from the
    ATTO Technology website:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Download and extract the latest driver software from the ATTO
        Technology website (www.attotech.com).

    2. Run "makedisk.exe" and follow the instructions for creating the
        installation media.

IV. Installation Instructions

    Note
    ----

Configuration utilities must be used under MS-DOS or Windows 95/98
from the command prompt. If you do not have MS-DOS or Windows 95/98
on your system, you can create a bootable floppy disk to boot to
    MS-DOS.

Since these utilities utilize DOS Protected Mode extensions, you must
not have EMM386 or any other Extended/Expanded Memory Manager in your
    config.sys file.

None of the DOS configuration utilities can be used in a DOS window
under other Windows operating systems since they require direct
access to the system hardware which is not available from
within the protected mode environments of Windows.

    Updating the Adapter Firmware
    -----------------------------

The flash program along with the supporting files must reside in the
    same directory.

Run the following command line to update the firmware on all adapters:

        Flash.bat

The flash program has other functions for modifying the adapter flash
for other purposes. Run flashx.exe with no arguments for a list of
commands. For example, if you do not need to boot from a drive attached
to the adapter, you can erase the expansion ROM drivers with:

        flashx.exe -eb
