As the announcement of the 15" MacBook is nearing and knowing it will probably also have the option for a Pro class Processor along with active cooling, would you like to see a similar 13" model with the same specs?
I assume the design is probably going to be different to the new MBA one so a...
Hello all,
The release of the new MacBook Pro equipped with the M2 Max chip has been met with some challenges. One of the major issues that many users have reported is the increased heat levels generated by the M2 Max chip compared to the previous M1 Max model. This has led to some performance...
Hi!
I was wondering about creating a custom dual CPU heatsink for the PowerMac G4 DA/QS (since apparently the QS heatsinks could also be used on the DA). Is this doable? Has this been done? I haven't seen many dual DA/QS around, some of them go for around $40 or more (when found) online.
I...
Hello everyone! I'm starting an experiment with finalizing the cooling system
(who doesn't know me, I've already worked on a dual fan for iMac)
1.While I'm thinking! how to make a video chip heatsink, I only thought of laying a plate on a plate, but a problem arose! The tubes inside are empty...
Yesterday, I spent my first day messing with a Mac. Ever. Have been using Windows since 286 days, so, at 69, this is a mad step into the unknown. So far, to quote another large American company, I'm lovin' it.
What I have done so far:
Swapped the hard disk for an SSD and successfully got it...
Is it a good idea to install a fan app, so i can manually set the fans to work at higher speed, in order to cool better my mid 2010 27" iMac?
On its upper side, it does get quite warm!
Hi all,
So I got my G4 Cube onto my desk the other day (after spending around a year on a shelf on display) she’s now setup with Mac OS. 9.2.2 and OS X Jaguar as a working computer and it actually works great with my FireWire 400 capture box And Final Cut Pro Version 3. Something my 15 inch MBP...
Aight lads and lasses of MacRumours
I have a question: What are some of your reccomendation for fan cooling on 3,1 (or any of the old pre trashcan macs)?
I've set this cooling profile but one of my Ram banks is a good few degrees hotter at any given time.
For context I've repasted the CPU's...
Hi Maccers,
We got a 27" mid 2011 and some days ago the GPU to take it's retirement. The new GPU arrived, iMac is dismantled and before mounting everything back in it's place I'm trying find out how to improve it's internal cooling. Is there anyone here who added extra fans or did something...
Ran Cinebench and Fanny is reporting 127º C on the CPU die (i5-10500), which is insane. Oddly enough, Intel Power Gadget shows temperatures immediately increasing to 100.0º C and then just capping off there, which is almost suspicious.
Any thoughts on what's with the 127º C?
According to this chart in this thread, we know that the i5 Air 2020 is giving 2.7x in multiple score of Cinebench R20.
Since 2.7x in multicore implies that there is a problem with cooling, we can assume about projected numbers IF the cooling was on par at least with base MBP 13. Assumed score...
Hi
I'm waiting for my order on a 2020 Air base model bumped to i5 cpu.
Every day I get big doubts, especially when reading and watching what people say on the interwebs.
Let's say heat or noise is unacceptable.. How could I change that?
I would be fine having a 2020 mba that maxes out turbo...
Everyone knows our dusty machines vrm cooling section attached to cooling blocks. When we upgrade 2009 cMP's with 130W lidded CPUs, cooler height increase nearly ~2.2mm. After all, thermal pads should be used 4.5 or 5mm to avoid future overheat problems. Vrms forced extra and cooling solution...
Hi there
I've got an A1502 MacBook Pro 13" late 2013 (MBP 11,1; ME867LL/A) which I got secondhand. It's got the 2.8GHz i7 4558U, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.
Thing is; it runs hot. All the time. Idle temps fluctuate between 65°C and 99°C most of the times.
I changed out the thermal paste twice...
Helle everybody, I'm having a bit of a problem wit my macbook pro mid 2012 because is running in between 60-68 degrees celsius and I'm kinda worried about it. So, I'm considering buying a cooling pad called "Power Cooler Gamer from Multilaser" to try to decrease the temperature a little bit...
I am looking at purchasing a used Mac Mini that can run the latest (Mojave) as my next computer, but I have heard and seen online that the aluminium unibody Mac minis all have an issue with overheating. They get extremely hot when put on load and the heat can be felt through the aluminum casing...
1.) Does better CPU in macbook (quad-core vs dual-core i5) will alow macbook to generate less heat?
2.) Does more RAM (16GB vs 8GB) allow macbook to generate less heat i.e. be cooler?
3.) Does dedicated graphic card in 15" version macbook pro, allow macbook to stay cooler while watching youtube...
Hi,
I am currently upgrading my Mac Pro to a very high performance regarding CPU, RAM, GPU, SSD etc. on a budget of ~2000$ in total so far.
So far my Setup:
Mac Pro 4.1 flashed to 5.1
Running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
2 x 3,46 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
64 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan...
