I'm taking a fresh look, as I prepare to transition to an iPhone 15 Pro Max; do most people accept the default HEIF?
HEIF (High Efficiency) vs JPG (Most Compatible)
Does HEIF still have significant compatibility barriers, when sharing photos?
According to this article, iPhone 15 Pro's 24-megapixel photos are better than 48-megapixel shots. I’m confused by this. Does this apply to just HEIF format or HEIF and RAW?

So, in the iOS Camera settings, you can choose your format: either "High Efficiency" (HEIF/HEVC) or "Most Compatible" (JPEG/H.24). I use High Efficiency because it saves space and looks just as good and Windows supports them with an extension now.
But, over in the Photos settings, under...
Please forgive me for the long post! I've had all of this kicking around in my head and had to get it all out and also wanted to get some expert takes.
I'm curious about other's workflow when importing from iPhone to Mac. iCloud Photo Library is really sweet, but I need more than 2TB...
Does anyone know of a HEIC converter that allows you to choose the frame?
I transferred some "LIVE" images from an iPhoneXS to a MacBookAir.
Now, I have a folder full of HEIC files that I can easily convert using iMazing HEIC converter, or other software.
I have not, however, been able to...
SOS! I am currently transferring over 21 thousand photos and videos from my iPhone to a new hard drive on my MAX computer 10.13.1, high Sierra. They’re transferring now. I have “Keep Originals” checked.
I came across an article that said that Apple is using a new format when uploading...
Hi,
So have my photos on my mac set to download and keep all photos, and I optimize on my iPhone 8. I have my iphone set to take high efficiency photos and videos (HEIF and HEVC). When I look at the details of my videos in the photos app it has the HEVC label. But when I look at them in finder...

Say I take a photo on my iPhone 7 in high efficiency format, and then it uploads to iCloud Photo Library… will I be able to view it on my other devices that don't support iOS 11/macOS High Sierra? I'm assuming it'll generate a JPEG preview, but I won't actually be able to view the original file?
Hello,
I was wondering how one would be able to export photos in HEIF format (HEIC file extension) on iOS/macOS? All I've tried (including dragging out a photo from the Photos.app on macOS High Sierra) results in a .jpeg file. Which is 1. bigger in size and 2. lesser quality due to recompression...
Hi,
the format setting in camera is high efficient but the file size compared to the setting maximum compatibility isn't smaller!
Is there something I do wrong here?
