So, in the iOS Camera settings, you can choose your format: either "High Efficiency" (HEIF/HEVC) or "Most Compatible" (JPEG/H.24). I use High Efficiency because it saves space and looks just as good and Windows supports them with an extension now.

Is there a list of programs that already support heif/heic photos?
I don't want to start using iOS 11 with new photo compression without knowing any programs that I can use to edit or view my photos. High sierra and photos-app is out of question.
