It came from my dead 2014 MBP.
What form factor or whatever is this? The connector on it does not look like all my other M.2 drives. What kind of USB enclosure do I need to connect this to my new Mac?
We have a MacBook that is domain-joined and currently, the user is not keen on having it re-imaged. The isues is that it has an incorrect certificate that relates to another device. As such the user can only access company resources via hotspot and VPN. Even when in the office, the user cannot...
Hi Apple & Mac friends.
Which is a better way to run Windows 10 or 11 off a Late 2015 5K iMac (model has Fusion Drive, Thunderbolt 2 only; the SSD and hardisk were deliberately separated, it's not "fused" anymore) which has a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface (I don't mind opening the iMac and buying that...
Hi -
in my iMac 15,1 I have USB 3.0 and ThunderBolt 2. I am considering an external enclosure connecting via TB as a boot option if I will see appreciable performance gains.
I have a 1TB Fusion drive going on now.
Looking for connecting 2 NVMe's. A double enclosure would be choice. One...
Currently using my 7,1 for the past few months and loving it. I spend most of my time in MacOS between work, audio production and some software development. I also boot into Windows for games, and replaced the Pro 580 GPU with an RX Vega 64.
The only thing lacking is storage. I spent a little...
Hi, I have a late 2009 Mac mini and I was planning on upgrading the hard drive to an ssd, my plan is to use a hard drive caddy: (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Proster-Compatible-Adapter-MacBook-SuperDrive/dp/B00EXPJADG/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=mac+mini+ssd+bracket&qid=1593497981&sr=8-5)...
Hi everyone!
I just bought a brand new A1708 13" mid-2017 i5 MacBook Pro (Function keys) that only has 128GB internal SSD.
These come with special SSD drives, and by chance I found an adapter on eBay that I had never seen before (see picture).
Basically it is advertised as being made for...
I am finally getting around to upgrading my macpro5,1. Without hardware background, it's been quite a learning curve. Thank goodness for forums like this and videos.
So far I've installed a Sapphire Radeon RX 580 and a new HDD in bay 3. I just did a clean install of Mojave and confirmed my Boot...
All the research I've done tells me - No, you have to use an M.Sata and adapter. Even though they're kind of old and expensive, compared to M2.
Then I came across a review for an adaptor, on the UK version of Amaz on. Item B07H7KCWQR, look in the comments section at the top review. The...
Hi,
So I have my Windows 10 boot drive on a 240gig sata ssd, and I have my Mac boot drive as the 970evo 500gig in a pcie slot with an adapter.
I find myself staying on Windows a lot more for certain programs I need and the occasional gaming.
I want to migrate my windows boot drive from my...
Besides switching back to the OEM SSD just to update the EFI firmware. Are there other workarounds? Opening the iMac for each OS Update that requires an updated BootROM will be a pain.
If my boot drive is an External NVMe SSD (ex: Samsung X5) will I ever have problems with the BootROM when...
hello everyone,
I have a MacBook Pro mid 2015 a1398 15"inch with 512gb ssd.
I bought the Samsung 970PRO 1TB with sintech adapter, I did installed everything properly inside the computer itself and the MacOS Mojave VERSION: 10.14.5 - and I have a some problems with that.

Hello dear users!
BEWARE this post is long-ish..
I decided to step up my music production game and I am slowly planning on selling my good ol' Tower Mac Pro 2008. I recently bought an iMac 2015 that was on sale locally on Gumtree. Beautiful machine with 64GB Ram, i7 processor, 2tb fusion...
Hi,
I have a new 2017 iMac 27" 5K 3.5Ghz 1TB Fusion drive. I added a 500GB M.2 SSD in a USB-C to USB-C External Housing as the the boot drive. It's certainly made a difference in performance.
However, the Fusion Drive has a Windows 10 partition (Boot Camp) and 750GB of free space.
I am just...
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I installed an ADATA SX8200 M.2 drive via a PCIe adapter in my 2009 Mac Pro (flashed to 5,1) and have found the read/write speeds to be less than stellar.
For a drive that is supposed to get speeds of 3200 MB/s read and 1700MB/s write, I am getting lackluster speeds...
Please can someone help.
My ssd died and the macbook air has mavericks in internet recovery.
Using alt, cmd r I can see my Samsung evo 960 m.2 drive. I erased, and then added mojave.
This all saves. However when I reboot, it only recognises my usb and this goes to recovery.
How can i get my...
Hi everyone,
I got a good deal on a 13.3" Macbook Pro from 2012. It has the i5 3210M processor, the stock 500GB 5000rpm HDD, and the stock 4GB of 1600MHz ram.
I am planning on upgrading both the hard drive and ram.
I already have a 128GB M.2 drive at home, and I was thinking of buying a M.2...
Update: Beginning of thread is mostly NVME related. Work for replacing internal GPU with a 3rd-party GPU starts later in the thread (in progress). The thread is still active. Questions and comments for both NVME and GPU are welcome.
Update: On Mac Pro (late 2013) don't mix APFS and NTFS on...
Recently I came across a Linus Tech Tips video where he installs an M.2 storage drive in a RAM slot. I looked around online and apparently, companies are making 'risers' for M.2 to be mounted in a RAM slot. I was wondering if anyone has tried this in a cMP and if so, what are your results and is...
With the introduction of High Sierra I am noticing NVME being supported out of the box. So my question is now this. Has anyone yet to try and buy a standard NVME PCIE M.2 SSD and install it with an adapter like so...
