I fixed this myself:
I upgraded from 10.5.8 to 10.6.0 (issue did not get fixed), I then ran updates and updated to 10.6.8 and that eventually fixed my problem. Updates where breaking for me so I had to run 1 update at a time otherwise my Mac would just crash on reboot...
