Despite paying for AppleCare+all my attempts to contact support today December 18th have been foiled.
1. 20 minutes of spinning wheels and then a message saying try again
2. Access via AppleCare button - my support coverage cannot be checked at this time

Just a cautionary warning for folk moving on from an old Mac using Snow Leopard or earlier to a new one on Mojave. The same may apply to later Mac OS too.
