My wife was on a domestic US flight and joined the WiFi during the flight. After the flight ended she was no longer to get a cellular connection. We received the error “an update is required to use cellular data.” in settings > cellular.
After going through both apple support and a Genius Bar...
When the iPhone SE was released in early 2022, it included the Qualcomm X57 (as noted here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/third-generation-iphone-se-teardown-reveals-larger-battery-capacity-and-snapdragon-x57-modem.2338891/)
I just bought one– downgraded from the iPhone 14 Pro because I...
I think this interview on Anandtech was an interesting read but one thing in particular caught my eye:

It seems that when Nuvia-based SOCs finally release...

I have the model number NTAR2LL/A. Anyone know if this is the Intel or Qualcomm kind of iPhone XS? I tried googling, but nothing comes up with that model number.

Does anyone know if the modem in the iPhone 8, unlocked, Apple store version is still being made with the Qualcomm modem (for the US market)?
I know in Germany, Apple was forced to use the Intel modem for all the iPhone 8 devices, but I'm not sure if that applies here in the US.
I think it is with china patent problem in it.
"Not all carriers support Apple SIM and eSIM. See your carrier for details. Not available in China."
What do you think?
At least without Qualcomm models of the iPhone, I don't even have to consider it as an option anymore, and I can go ahead with the Note 9 with no regrets. I simply can't buy a phone that isn't going to get good reception. I got an SE on sale, so I have a toy phone, and I could use it on AT&T...
3 weeks in, Just wondering if anyone here had the intel moden iphone x first on the Tmobile network and has done the move to the verizon qualcomm modem on the Tmobile network,
do you see any performance differences on the tmobile network between the two ? (Don’t care about speed that much...
Quick background - Apple again will have at least 2 versions of the iPhone X - one with a Qualcomm modem for CDMA networks (Verizon/Sprint) and one with an Intel modem for GSM networks (AT&T/T-Mobile). There is some evidence, most anecdotal, that the superior Qualcomm chip outperforms the Intel...
I purchased two iPhone 7s when they were announced, but unfortunately bought the T-Mobile version. I was aware of the whole Qualcomm vs Intel modem debate, but I didn't think I would want to switch to Verizon, so unfortunately I pulled the trigger before they had the SIM-free model available...
As many are aware, there are two different versions of the iPhone 7/7 Plus for sale in the US:
Model A1660/A1661 (GSM/CDMA)
with Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 Modem (LTE Advanced up to Cat. 12 downlink with 600 Mbps peak download speed)
for Sprint and Verizon
but also works on AT&T and T-Mobile...
