Dock randomly flashing

I have iPad Pro 11 iOS 16.1.1 Stage Manager app initially worked as designed but now it has an issue with 'Recent apps' and 'Dock'. It doesn’t have effect. I simply don’t see it. Restarting iPad didn’t help. How to fix it? What could cause it to work before but failed after? Thanks -

All iPads Stage Manager's "split view": other window always "in background", even when not overlapping

What is the point of Stage Manager when we have Spaces?
I might be missing something here; I just don't understand what the benefit of Stage Manager is when Spaces offers similar benefits.
