status light always on

My Mac Pro (early 2008) 8-core 2.8 GHz is operating normally as far as I can tell. All memory recognized, all fans operating. No weird noises. However the white status light on the front of the case remains lit even when the machine is shut-down. It doesn't blink -- just remains steadily lit...
