    MacBook Pro 16 4gb vs 8gb VRAM?

I live in India and am in a bit of a conundrum. I'm looking to buy the MBP 16 i9 but would like to upgrade the GPU from 4 to 8gb but the issue here is that BTO takes forever. The store said it could take a minimum for 45 days and given the COVID situation I'm not sure how long I'd be waiting...

2017 MBA, reduce amount of shared video RAM?

I have a 13" 2017 MacBook Air (with Intel HD Graphics 6000) and it's allocating 1.5GB of my main memory for the integrated GPU. It's far more VRAM than I ever need/use, and I would prefer if I could somehow reduce the amount by perhaps 0.5GB or even more as I regularly run into RAM shortage...

Life of my 2012 rMBP 15

Back in June 2012 when I gazed upon the newly released MacBook Pro with Retina display, I know that it was the machine I wanted to purchase. It ticked all the boxes; had good battery life, great screen, CPU, GPU and all I wanted back then. Sadly the demand was rather strong and I waited for 2...

High VRAM usage on iMac 2013

I've recently noticed that the VRAM usage on my late 2013 iMac seems to be hovering between 75% and 100%, even after restarting the machine (with nothing open). I've even tried fresh installs of both High Sierra and Sierra and it still seems be the same. On my MacBook Air (with shared graphics...

    Resolved 3GB vs 6GB VRAM

Hey MacRumors folk! Although I love my 2012 rMBP very much, it's just not cutting it for the power I need for uni. I'm on a games programming course and so I'm running a lot of Windows software, and developing for Windows in general. So it's time to build myself a PC - plus I've been wanting to...

Courage VS Daring ! Big YES for updated MBPs.

I give Apple a big two thumbs up WAY up ! I didn't like the "courage" they took with the iPhone but I really love this daring and risk taking, no remorse approach to their recent update to the MBP line late 2016. This update really exemplifies the original motto of the company which was all...

Bad performance on old white Macbook2,1 due to intel chipset, what can be done?

So I got an old macbook2,1 released on 2007 thanks to a friend. 3GB Ram, running a new install of OS X Lion. Before telling me "well duh, of course it's slow, it's old", any other older macs I recently tried from that era don't run that bad today (mainly an 17" 2006 iMac and one of the first...
