Well all I was doing was running iMovie while transcoding a file to iDVD, I only had three firefox windows open and listening to my iTunes library. It started getting a little sluggish, so much for macs just work.

Ok that was really sarcasm, that was the first time my mini has seemed to finally be pushed to its limits. I put together an hour long movie for my little girls first birthday and was putting into iDVD, I did have a bunch of open windows and the machine started to get a bit sluggish. Overall I still give it an A PLUS because I was told by a lot of people it would be underpowered for what I wanted and it handled it like a champ. The encoding took just over an hour but I had alot of audio pictures and video to put together.

After the party I had people asking how much it cost to have the DVD done by a professional and I was thrilled, it turned out perfect. When everyone left I went up and hugged my little mac and told it I loved it.

Have you hugged your mac today?

Yeah Mac's can handle a lot. I cant help but give a lot of credit to OS X, its definitely a rock solid OS.

I hug it everyday, silly.

Some ram might help with your sluggish multitasking though. How much is in the poor mini?

I don't think I will bring myself to do that, sorry. How much RAM is currently in it? Cause with my 1GB of RAM, Adium & 8+ Firefox tabs is enough to make Firefox crash.

But I just placed an order for 2x2GB sticks.

I have it maxed with 4 gigs but it will only use the 3 and change. I wasnt dissapointed at all, I figured with everything going on it would slow down a lot and it was hardly noticeable.

I just read a lot of posts from people who say the mini is so far under spec'ed and not really up to what todays users want that I would let people know that I was pretty brutal on the system and all it did was slow down a bit.

If I hugged my mini, all the cables in the back would yank out, so I just gently pet it instead. I save the hugging for my PowerBook :)

Given enough RAM, it's quite impressive what OS X can eek out of a system.
