I'm getting dizzy from reading the millions of variables on this, just want to make sure I'm not going to create a disaster before I go ahead.

I have an 8GB iphone that I've jailbroken and upgraded to 1.1.2 over time (Can't remember what it had originally, purchased in Oct 07.) Now, I see that I can install 1.1.3 directly on the iphone using the installer app ("Official 1.1.3 Upgrader").

Is there anything I need to do before I install that app? Will all the 3rd party apps still be there after it's one upgrading? Or is it really as simple as installing that upgrade?

Thanks for your time, and sorry if this has been answered before.

Dude, I would be VERY careful. I spent 8 hours yesterday trying to upgrade my 1.1.2 (jb) to 1.1.3. NOTHING I did worked. I tried ALL the methods out there (except for Nate's). It worked once but I only had three application icons - no Prefs - so I had to downgrade again. This really sucks. I know what I'm doing but nothing takes.

i ran the official upgader and 15 mins later i had a 1.1.3 jailborken phone no probs.

Hi Danny, thanks for the help, but still a little confused. According to the website that link takes me to, I skip to step 8. (JB1.1.2) First thing it says is to try the updater in the installer app, and if it doesn't work, try this, and lists some pretty confusing, scary, mean, nasty stuff (to me... Maybe to everyone else it's second nature.)

I don't mean to sound like an imbecile, I also don't want to have to spend two days un-doing something that I done did.

So did you ONLY use the updater listed in the installer app? Or did you have to do some sshing to it?

Anyone else JUST use the installer app updater with OR without success?

Thanks all for your time, patience, and help!!

well i started with a normal 1.1.3 phone

and followed every step

if i were you just runn the official 1.1.3 upgrader on installer and everything will be fine .........

hopefully

If not do all the steps should only take a few hrs

Thanks Danny, I appreciate your help, you're a braver man than I. As the "views" count increases, and the "replies" count remains pretty steady (at just you and I), I think I'll just play it safe (Not that I don't trust you.) I also fear that if it doesn't work out fine, I'd mess something up worse in the "Should only take a few hours" timeframe.

Anyone else try this with either good or bad results? Thanks again!

I have tried

I have tried upgrading using the Installer.app and got my iphone bricked. It would'nt even boot anymore...

I had to reset the damn thing and start from 1.1.1 all over again.

thats the reason why it took a few mins for the process to be done, he already had a 1.1.3 iphone.

im currently in the process of updating my 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 using the 'official 1.1.3 upgrader' and let me tell you its gonna take hours to download the 1.1.3 restore file over wi-fi, i hope it works.

will keep you posted.

depraisteve, did you get the chance to get anywhere ?

hi there, after i downloaded the 1.1.3 firmware via wi-fi it did its thing and updated this and that but when it restarted the iphone i had to activate it, unlock it and jailbreak it as if it was a untouched phone. Something definitely went wrong along the way

i didnt know how to do this prior to it happening, so i had to learn very quickly about unlocking and jailbreaking etc.. but after all that i finally got it back to 1.1.1 and updated it to 1.1.2, im not game to update it to 1.1.3 via the 'official 1.1.3 upgrader' as i dont have the time to be doing all that again.

i am now confident in activating and jailbreaking now, but i dont want the hassles, im sure there are other methods to get it to 1.1.3 but if im bored later on i can give it a try.

if you decide to try the official upgrader let me know how you go, just sad for me that it didnt work.

goodluck
