From what I've been reading lately it's now possible to activate/jailbreak/unlock a 1.1.3 OTB iPhone, right? I have a friend who wants to buy one but I wasn't sure since I had so many problems with unlocking a 1.1.2 OTB iPhone recently. Can anyone confirm if this is the case with the 1.1.3 and if so, is ZiPhone the best app to use on a mac?

My other question:
I also have a 1.1.3 iPhone (originally a 1.0.2 that was unlocked with iphonesimfree). When I was running it in 1.1.1 it had YouTube enabled, but I used the official 1.1.3 upgrade and now can't use YouTube. If I do the ZiPhone thingy on this phone, will it screw it up? Will it make YouTube work again?

Thanks in advance!

For you first question...

I have a macbook, and i unlocked mine by just doing it the other way without ziphone, you can follow my tutorial on youtube by searching macintoshpie and clicking on my tutorial video. :D

For your friend: yes and yes. Only problem he might find is can't run latest baseband on 4.6 bootloader, so maps may not run 100%? He can now downgrade BL, and thus run latest BB, but I'd suggest that he not do that, at least until GeoHot finishes work on his modified BL and we see what it can do (as you apparently can't go 3.9->4.6_geo, but can 4.6->4.6_geo)

For you: I'd restore to plain 1.1.3 and use ziphone. Youtube problems are usually to do with the activation step, so it should work with ziphone ok. (mine did at least!). As for your unlock - IIRC IPSF people need to run a script called Signal.app (which you can automate to run each reboot) to get a carrier signal. I'm not sure if you can unlock with ziphone on top of IPSF to avoid this (zibri is a bit unclear on this on his blog?)

I did the following and got a fully functional iphone complete with youtube and googlemaps (including locate me function)

I can confirm that this method works great. I had a iphone unlocked on 1.1.1 with ipsf. To upgrade i did the following:

-Restore iphone to 1.1.3 via itunes
-use ZIPHONE and run the jailbreak and activate version (do not run the unlock)
-Once complete, go to installer and download BSD subsystem and any sim 1.1.3
-Install BSD subsystem and Any Sim
-Once downloaded, go to settings turn auto lock to never and switch the phone into airplane mode
-Run Any Sim 1.1.3
-Turn airplane mode off and VIOLA!

Just today I unlocked with ZiPhone 2.3, completely successfully. I'll note that I've spent WAYY too much time attempting other unlocks, and had in fact set aside an entire day to attempt the upgrade. But surprisingly enough, it worked without issue.

I first RESTORED via iTunes to 1.1.3, then ran Ziphone's jailbreak, activate, and unlock functions. Worked great. Phone, YouTube, LocateMe, and Mail (the apps that others have reported having issues with) are all working perfectly.

This is coming from a 1.0.2 unlocked with iUnlock, upgraded to 1.1.1 and then 1.1.2 (both unlocked).
