1.1.3 upgrade & "slide to emergency" screen

I've upgraded my iPhone from 1.1.2 (I bought it "unlocked" online and I do not know how it was unlocked - YouTube, Maps, all the stuff worked fine though). I used Installer to get the 1.1.3 upgrade package and run it...

After a while the phone rebooted and the message appeared telling how to move the icons on the home screen (looks like 1.1.3 was installed successfully). I noticed some of the icons were missing (3rd party soft and also standard apps like weather and some others). Pressing "home" button to finish moving the icons around didn't work, so I restarted the mobile by holding the "sleep" button and then I kicked it up back to work...

This time, after the Apple logo I got the 'connect to iTunes" screen. I noticed the iPhone is connected to the network (O2, Pay & Go) and even I got the SMS receive notice (I cannot read the whole text as I cannot access the home menu). Below, there's a "slide to emergency" bar...

When I connect to iTunes I'm getting a message there's a problem with my iPhone and I should contact the nearest Apple store...

I can SSH the mobile, I tried freeing the space on / partition by moving Applications directory and linking it to /var/root/, didn't help though...

Generally it look's like the phone is working, receiving SMS messages, just the "connect to iTunes" screen pops up after every restart...

I tried iNdependence to get rid of the "slide to emergency" and boot it to the main screen with icons, but no luck - I'm getting unsupported version of firmware (1.1.3)...

Can anyone help me out? Why am I getting this screen blocking the access to application icons?

BTW, I remember there was a question before I started updating the phone using the Installer's 1.1.3 pack asking if I would like to activate the iPhone by hacktivation or something like that, and it was written it was not recommended and it's better to activate using iTunes. Besides my iPhone was already activated, so I chose "NO".

Should I use iTunes' "restore" function?
 
Same thing happened to me. The only fix was to put the phone into recovery mode and do a full restore. I was trying to fix it for day and that was my last resort...Now i have a locked 1.1.3 :-(

Seriously, why the hell do people buy unlocked iphones and then cry when they don't work once updated...If you've got an illegal pirate version of windows..then you don't update the software do you. Same goes for the iphone. Of course it's broken you dingus. Because your a cheapskate who thought it would be a good idea to cheat apple and o2 out of a few quid. Enjoy your brick until you can unlock it again
 
moel is right, if a bit harsh. There have been quite a lot of posts about the 1.1.3 upgrade going wrong in the best of circumstances. You should seriously consider not using it.

You're probably going to have to downgrade and start again to fix your problems. I'm guessing that you have a software unlock which means you'll have to install that again, and double check that it will work on 1.1.3. Hopefully you didn't upgrade the baseband in the process, as that would have to be downgraded too.

Irritating post. Could not convey your message without the patronization and name calling?
 
Is there anyone who can give some advice how to fix this problem?
 
iPhone lock....

Hey Lukas and all of those having this same issue... I have videos up on youtube on how to restore, jailbreak and unlock ur phones. Just search my name on youtube and ull see... ur problem was saying NO to hacktivation, YOU HAVE TO SAY YES!
 
I managed to fix the "slide to emergency" screen. I downloaded the iNdependence 1.4 beta 2 (1.1.3 support) and activated the iPhone. Now it boots up to the "desktop" with icons... I'm getting the O2 signal (I use O2 Pay & Go SIM). iPhone seems to be working...

There's another issue though. Some icons are missing, like Safari, Mail, SMS, some Installer's apps too. And all the icons from the bottom bar are missing too (it's empty). All I can do is to move the icons around (1.1.3 new function).

Can someone give an advice what's gone wrong now?

Are the icons on a different page? Have you checked that?

Mate - You should have just bought a NORMAL iPhone then at least you'd have a warranty etc if ANYTHING went wrong. :(

Solution for all yours problems with your iPhone.

First: Restore the iPhone fronm iTunes. Click in the buton restore and the iTunes restore from inicial settings;

Second: Run the aplicattion iJailBreak 0.5.3. The link is http://ijailbreak.com/. This aplication is for MAC.

This aplication put your iPhone 100% well. This jailbrack ou jailbreack and unlock. After 3 minutes the iPhone is fine.

Tell me anything.

Thank you for your reply cambala. I've got a few questions to make sure I won't mess it up completely this time:
1. Should I restore to Apple's unmodified 1.1.3 using iTunes (I've got v7.6)?
2. Will iJailBreak unlock iPhone directly from standard (restored) 1.1.3?

Additional question:

Maybe it's because some Installer's apps are not 1.1.3 compatible and prevent loading rest of the desktop icons properly?
 
Seems like moel and domness have a few chip issues. Thanks also to Cambala from me too.
 
Finally I've found a remedy to this problem, and I got my iPhone upgraded to 1.1.4 (unlocked, jailbreaked and activated). :cool:

Just in case someone is having the same issue: to fix the mess with the icons I just needed to restore the mobile with iTunes...
