Don’t know if this is a True Tone issue or what. 1/2 of my 2020 iMac will dim like the picture shown. After reboot it looks normal again. This a hardware issue? Any advice would be great. I’m having weird audio issue also. I may just exchange for a new one at Best Buy.

I'd vote for hardware defect ... My TV was doing the same before changing the panel ! I don't think software is involved because everybody would have had this problem.

I had this problem intermittently but only if connected to my second monitor.

If I switch the monitor on and off problem goes away so I think is software/compatibility issue.

Do you have a second monitor?

I don't have another monitor but I may connect it to one of my TV's. Looks like it is related to True Tone because when I turn True Tone off then on it fixes it.

There was another thread I can't find now that showed the same issue happening only on the 2020 model and yes it is due to True Tone. It's probably a driver issue on specific graphics cards, on my 5500 XT I have not seen it happen yet
