Hi all

I'm looking at this machine as a potential replacement for the eMac.

I want to upspec the DVD Drive, and HDD, memory has already been increased to 1GB which I believe is the maximum for this little box of tricks

Can anyone suggest a replacement HDD, I want to go REALLY big!! but think I may be limited in terms of whats available

Again suggestions for a replacement super drive as the original is broken? I put a pioneer in my eMac, not sure if they do one for this though?

Also, airport and bluetooth..... This is an original machine without either:-( will the airport card out of my eMac fit?
cheers

TBH rather than upgrading an old machine you would do much better just to sell it and buy a new Mac Mini. Although wait a while because new models are rumoured soon.

If you can sell your current model for £200+ and the new Mini costs £450, you've laid out £250 for a considerably large speed increase over your old Mini.

the largest drive that will work on that model mini is a 250GB
as far as super drive you can find them at owc the ones that work in G4 laptop work in the mini's
as far as the wireless and BT it uses a combo ap/bt card but you also need the adapter board and the antenna for both so the cost of upgrading is close to a new mini

Will you actually need a larger HD, or doing it just 'for the fun of it'?

A little for giggles but mainly because the 250GB drive in my eMac is showing 67GB available, didnt think it'd be long before I totally filled it up!

So what 250GB HDD would be recommended to fit in this thing? I really dont want to get it wrong! :apple:

I was curious. My "silent upgrade" 1.5 PPC has the 80 gig (5400 rpm) HD - and I still have more than 40 gigs free... Sounds like you truly need a larger HD! Give Newegg a call. They'll take care of you.
