I have had my Intel Mini, 1.83ghz 1gb ram running 10.5 for a couple years or so now and for at least the first year, it was as fast as I needed it to be for normal things, safari, itunes, quicktime and other random useful apps but not to high performance apps, but for a while now it has started to lag quite a bit just having, itunes, safari and a few menu bar apps open, (Caffeine, Synergy, Maclock, airmouse, remote tap, and evernote) I could explain more if needed but I think if the right person is reading this they will know whats going on and how to fix it? Also I have tried to keep my hard drive fairly tidy, with appcleaner and other maintenance apps, so I dont think its just that I've just over junked my mac, are the regular apps just to getting to processor dependent? I dont think I really should have to upgrade just yet, or would 10.6 make a big difference. before this mac I used a Power PC G4 and it went through the same problems but it was almost 10 years old, I dont want my mini to go in the closet just yet. Can anyone help me save it?

May want to see if you can add another gig of RAM. The apps are getting more memory hungry as of late. Probably would see a bigger difference there over a faster processor

aright, I have thought of that but I think it may be more, I'll occasionally run iStat in the menu bar to monitor memory use and for the most part with all of the normal apps running it'll stay at a fairly minimal level, its just when I go use just one app it'll spike and usually freeze up for 5-15 seconds, maybe that just shows how well mac apps are in idle?
