Referenced in a different thread, my screen had a defect where you could see the scan lines cycle at 60 Hertz. Exchanged it. New screes is awesome. Probably the best laptop an any I ever had, [approx. 9 between home & work].

Referenced in a different thread, my keyboard is uneven. The left side tab, caps lock, and shift button are not flush. The right side of those keys are depressed, so the right side of them stick up above the other keys. Decided to accept, since it's only a visual issue, for fear of a step down in the screen.

Two new gripes, but un-sure if I'm just being picky.

1) There is a gap between the trim that borders the laptop in the area where my right wrist is when typing. That gaps snags arm hairs & pulls them out. Not serious, but annoying.

2) When external speakers are plugged in, some internal actions, [not sure what], make a high pitched squeal go through the speakers, but it stops later.

Performance is awesome. My gut says I need to let go of the two new issues listed above, again, for fear of getting a lessor screen. Even if the replacment did not have the bad issue I had, what if it had dead pixels? Then I'd wish I kept this one!!

My 14-day period is 1/2 way over tomorrow.

I don't have too much experience with this, but I often find myself in your position when I buy something new. You see every little thing and wonder if you could just get that 'perfect machine'.

Unless it hinders your use, I would say stick with it. You would hate to get another MBP that has other issues that are worse. Perhaps AppleCare could even fix the little problems and you could keep the machine itself.

Not sure if that helps, but good luck!

So your MBP bites a little.. so does mine.. if it bugs you that much just groom your arms.. :p Don't punish the Mac cause your an Ape.

hey!! nothin we ever get is gonna be 100% perfect .. u can risk replacin ur mbp and might end up with a mbp with stuck pixels !!!!!

so better not change it!!

njoy ur mbp!!!! i'm stuck with my hp pc for atleast a month and a half more:mad:

The more problematic MBPs and macbooks I've received over the past year, the more picky I've become. I think I'm obsessed with details now and I'm not proud of it.Every little imperfection bothers me - what a waste of time. With that in mind, my advice is still to keep it and possibly get Apple to repair the sound problem if it bothers you/gets worse.

The gap issue I think you could solve by putting a moshi palmguard or invisibleshield or something on it, which I think would cover the gap and also provide protection.

As you said, the display is the most important and these other minor issues are pretty minor. Keep it and enjoy what you say is 'the best computer you've ever had'.

There was an old department store up here in Canada called Eatons, whose slogan was "Goods satisfactory or money refunded". Unfortunately, many companies have either not implemented such a policy or have let a similar policy fall by the wayside. I think that as consumers, we should demand a certain level of quality control in the products that we buy. One could make the argument that if you are not satisfied with the MBP, you should exchange it until you get one that you are happy with. I have had the fortune of not having had any quality control issues with the computers I've bought from Apple, but if I wasn't happy with it...

That said, there is a counter argument that speaks to reasonableness. If you consider your issues to be relatively minor, and ones that you can live with, then no harm, no foul. I guess it just depends on which side of the coin you happen to favour.

I guess that didn't really answer your question, but it's something to think about. :)

Of course I agree with you about demanding good quality, but unfortunately that can be a battle that consume far too much time and energy, not to mention that it can be very frustrating. With Apple, it does seem that it's hard to get 100% perfection in their laptops. If there are minor issues and the overall experience of using it is good, I would recommend just letting it go. Sending it back only to get another one with a different, and perhaps more serious, issue is not worth it.

If you bought it at a retail Apple store, I would go to the manager and talk to him and explain the issues, ask for a direct replacement demand not to pay the restocking fee( It is possible because I got my fee waived even when I was out of the 14 day period) and open the new one right in the store and check everything make sure everything is in working process. You paid good money for this laptop and anywhere where you see on theyre ads for it or on theyre display they dont mention that the keyboard will not be flushed, the it has L.E.D displays that are faulty so you are not at fault for this. My advice to you is to exchange it again untill you get it right.

Thenks Everyone!

Thanks to all for the replies! I decided that since I happen to have such a great screen this time, to stick with it. Uneven keys are not so bad in the big picture, compared to the screen, [my thought and someone else siad that too]. As for the high picthed sound, I'll keep an eye, or an ear, on it. It's probably at least semi-common; I just remembered I heard an iMac flat panel do that too...

Thanks again!
