So, I've been having issues with my MacBook Pro 17". I bought this MacBook around July of '06 and it ran fine until the last couple of weeks. Lately, the mouse butt doesn't really click. It feels like something is stuck under the button but I can't imagine what could have gotten under the button as I don't eat around my notebook or anything. It's kind of frustrating.

But the biggest issue I've been having is with my battery. When I take it off the wall power, it works for about 5-10 minutes and randomly shuts off. I took the battery out to look at it and found the following:

(I pressed the little silver button for the lights to show up just so you get a better view)a

As you can see, the battery's housing seems to be flexing and just stays stuck out in it's current form. It's actually extremely frustrating as I recall hearing stories about such issues with the MacBook Pros. The notebook isn't under the service plan or what not. Any help would be awesome. It would be some poor design if a notebook isn't portable anymore after a year.

Update: I may have jumped the gun. I called up Apple and although I was outside my warranty, they made an exception due to the swelling of the battery. I'll be shipping my MacBook Pro out later this week for repair. I was starting to get pissed thinking they wouldn't fix the problem.

Good for you! Can't beat that!

Swelling and loss of battery health is a known issue for early MacBook Pro batteries, and Apple did a srot of recall on them. So it's definitely good that you're getting a new one. :)
