So I haven't heard news in quite a while (a week or so) about 10.1.3. What gives? I was ready to install it a couple of weeks ago when I heard the first rumors of its release. Flash-forward to today when I'm still anxiously awaiting its release.

Maybe they are holding out until 10.2 is ready and just skipping 10.1.3. I doubt it, but maybe.

In any case, I'm ready for an upgrade NOW!! I want to watch DVDs on my TV without a lot of hassle (ie rebooting)!

And before anyone writes in asking why I care, that issue has been tackled in other threads. ("10.1.3 who cares?" is one) If you want to know whay people care about this, go look there.

So where is our update?

I agree. seems like apple should have had that out by now. for awhile we were getting updates every month or so.

story with 10.1.3 (notice i say story cuz who knows if its true) is that apple had it all ready to go and found a serious bug at the last moment and held on to it until they fixed th error. That was awhile ago though, so i would have thought they could have fixed it by now.

As far as 10.2 goes, apple was ready with 10.2 for MWSF (as far as the story goes) but felt people wouldnt want to pay for another upgrade so soon, so theyve decide to continue development adding more features and fixes until they feel the public is ready to shell out some more dough.

I was sorta hoping 10.2 would come out with the g5 in NewYork. they need to rewrite the OS for a 64 bit processor anyway so take that opportunity to release 10.2 optimized for 64bits. A g5 in NewYork is looking less and less likely these days though so perhaps this wont happen. hate to say it but with the new g4 road map it looks like we will be stuck with the damn g4 for awhile. (Prove me worng apple... please... we're dyin' here)

Interesting:

Want to show your stuff on the big screen? Your new PowerBook G4 can detect when it’s connected to an external monitor, TV or projector. The system automatically displays to the external monitor when you press the Command key with the Brightness Up (F2) key. Alternatively, whether using Mac OS X or Mac OS 9, you can toggle between dual display and video mirroring modes by pressing the Command key with the Brightness Down key (F1 key). And here’s the best part: The hardware mirroring now included in the new PowerBook G4 allows video content such as QuickTime movies to be displayed on an external monitor with performance equal to that of the built-in display. (I got that from Apples Powerbook site)

I run DVDs straight from my PBG4667 on to my TV and my projector so I don't really need a 10.13 upgrade, but its always nice to update the OS!

I can get everything to work EXCEPT DVD playback. With my TiBook I have to reboot and shut the case during the bong. Then it thinks that the external display is the only connected display. Its the ony way I can get it to work. Any other way and the DVD player says its an unsupported configuration.

Well, I have had no problems with my G4/733 until today, when I updated to 10.1.3. Somehow my Hard Drive has become unmounted. I cannot get anything to respond, and the "C" key start-up doesn't wotk with TechTool or Norton, only the Software Install CD. Disk First Aid is worthless. I guess I'll be up all night re-installing software. Thanks for nothing Apple.

P.S. Sorry for the rant. ;-(
