10.1.3? Help Me!

Hey, its me, the one that has 10.1.3! I am sorry I didnt listen to you folks about installing it. There are a few problems. I tried to go back to 10.1.2 and the installer told me my disk was an unrecognizable format. So I rebooted from my 10.1 CD and tried to install and I was told the same thing. I put in my iMac Software Restore CD, but all the files are in OS 9! X is unable to read them! What should I do? Please help me!:(

Please, you are my last resort, but I hope you can be my first...

I called apple, and they want me to play 50 bucks! My Service is expired...
 
Apple wouldn't help you anyway, you installed a version that hasn't been publicly released yet. Sorry to say this, but you're going to have to reinstall OS X.

A word of advice should you choose to install pre-release builds again: don't use your original system! Always install it onto a seperate partition or external disk.

final build, and once installed you will not be able to update that
machine in the future (without reinstalling 10.1).

So, just install 10.1 again?

Did you even read what happened? MY 10.1 CD WILL NOT RECOGNIZE MY DISK BECAUSE 10.1.3 IS AN UNRECOGNIZABLE FORMAT! I have tried just about everythin!

I am only running X. This is what I plan to do...

1) SOMEHOW install 9
2) Reformat drive for X
3) Install X (if it works)
4) Update
 
WAIT WAIT WAIT

I did the exact same thing with OSX.12 and what I did was just let the machine I did it to lay dormant for a few days and then make an OSX boot CD with the downloaded updater on it then run it and it will work.

The only hard part was the OSX Boot CD
 
Sucker! :D He he he... like I said, never do anything like that unless you're happy to lose everything on your drive.
 
that's how u learn...

I learned what not to do with my first Mac by screwing it up...

and now u have too....

glad to hear u got it back up and running.... :p
 
Problems???

I dont't know what you are doing. I installed 10.1.3 and everything is working fine. First I installed it on my iPod to make sure it would work. I put it on my Powerbook and it is working great. But you could also be doing completly different things.

You didnt lose everything did you? even those of us who said go for it said not to install it on your actual hard drive. please tell me you used some extra hard drive or partition.
 
reinstalling OSX

I too ****ed up my G4-400 system. But for different reasons, while messing around in Unix with MySQL and PostgreSQL (I'll spare you the details).

Several reinstalls of MySQL and PostgreSQL could not solve the problems and finally I decided to reinstall OSX on a erased disk (I have several internal HD's, so it was very stupid of me to not have 2 same OSX's on different HD's). OK, I walked the whole road: 10.0.3, 10.1 CD-updater, and the other updaters via the systemextension.

Guess what? I got a bonus. OSX 10.1.2 had become twice as fast as the old install. When I installed OSX for the first time, I also did it on a clean disk, so the erasing could not be the reason for this.

Any of you guys have any idea how come?

Maybe you all should do reinstalls too..... even if nothing is ****ed up.

Or, maybe OSX ****s itself up the longer it works.
