I ran the previous version on Yosemite with no problems at all. After installing to 10.10.1, everything is insanely sluggish. I have another friend whom I have tried to fix similar issues on similar hardware, but found no solutions, now I am experiencing the same on my Mac mini mid 2010.

Apps are taking looong time to launch. When they finally start, they are very slow to response.

I can write a full sentence before even a single word appears on the screen.

Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Any suggestions to sort this problem?

I really hope you are right. I have been trying to search for a solution for 30 minutes now, but it is a painful thing to do on a machine that barely responds to anything I do.

----------

Oh... I checked the system log... I was flooded with messages like this:

19/11/14 18:43:30,673 sshd[12435]: error: PAM: authentication error for root from 62-210-172-152.rev.poneytelecom.eu via 10.0.0.67

And that made me check if I had forgotten to turn off my SSH-daemon, which I had. Immediately after turning SSHD off, my machine started to breathe again.

Seems like someone was trying to hack into my machine.

Looking through my logs reveals attempts to log in from a lot of different IP addresses. Most likely a botnet, so the owner of the exposed address above is probably not even aware of what his or her machine is used for.

Seems all addresses are from the same C-subnet under poneytelecom.eu, though.

Maybe spotlight is still indexing?

No, it was my logs being flooded by login attempts to my SSHD server. I am guessing he was trying to log in with the root user with random passwords from a cluster of computers, but i am not allowing root at all, so he must first guess the right user, then the right password.

The problem solved immediately after I turned off SSHD, so my computer is as fast as it usually is again.
