Updated to 10.10.3 a few days ago and noticed my hourly time machine backups were stuck on preparing backup forever. I just assumed it was due to iCloud Photo Library and the issues I was having uploading all 40gb of photos .

After 2 days of stuck on uploading I decided to shut IpL off across all my devices but still can't successfully back my Mac up to my time capsule.

Only thing I noticed in console was it saying "deep event scan" can't back up . Does this mean I have to wipe my time capsule clean and start a new backup fresh ? If so that takes hours and hours lol.

What does "deep event scan" mean? I have not seen anyone else with the same issue after the update

Thanks !

Try Repair Permissions in Disk Utility and reboot. See that helps.
