10.11.1 Chrome Autostarting at boot

MacBook Pro with 6GB Ram
Just updated from Snow Leopard, how can I speed my OS in starting up. It is taking 47 seconds after which google chrome loads up which I also want to stop from doing.
Dock > Chrome > 2_finger tap > Options. Open at Login is not selected.

I went to Users & Groups and under the Login Items tab, I removed every thing, there were maybe 6 apps including google chrome. but still it takes 47s to boot up.

I turned off WiFi for no avail.

Startup time is governed by the startup media (HDD will be a LOT slower than SSD for instance), CPU (lots of stuff to setup depending on), OS Version (EC will take much longer than SL from the same media), your internet connection (for all the cloud stuff to talk to/startup), 6GB should be enough that it won't need to swap straight away

So are you booting off the original HDD?

I don't care about startup time from cold (but it takes about 15secs on my SSD), I so rarely do it. I just shut the lid and put it to sleep, often it doesn't boot for weeks.

Booting from the internal hard drive, reported by Disk Utility as WDC WD10 JPVT-00MS8T0. My googleing did not help me much if HDD or SSD. Thank you if you could tell me.

Nothing on the cloud for me and my CPU is 2.66 GHz intel Core i7

You have a spinning disk, a hard disk drive. An SSD, a Solid State Disk, will speed up that laptop of yours like there's no tomorrow. I bet you'll see your OS boot in ~15-20 seconds with all login items loaded. Try getting one of those in to your laptop via doing it yourself of getting a friend or technician to do it. It really is your HDD that gets in the way of a speedy load of the OS.

Also consider disabling the Resume feature. You have to uncheck the box on the logout prompt and in system preferences > general. This will make sure that applications are not restarted upon login.

If you are limited to 6GB RAM then, unless you have fitted one, as above it will be an old, small HDD so pretty much worst case. Sorry.

Doesn't matter if you have stuff in the cloud or not, many of the cloud services will attempt contact and need to wait for a response or timeout...but an SSD will solve "the problem".
