An iPad mini coupled with any iPad model in the 10-11 inch size category (standard iPad, iPad Air, 11-inch iPad Pro) has always seemed redundant. Other than maybe drawing or some of the higher-end features in the 11-inch iPad Pro, I don't know that I'd find any (combined) use case for both an iPad in that size category and an iPad mini. I feel like the same is probably true for those with 12.9-inch iPad Pros as well. I could see a use case for the combination of an iPad mini and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, but not as much a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and any other 10-11 inch iPad model. Otherwise, I feel like those buying that middle size of iPad (especially with so many options to pick from comparatively) generally are fine with just that iPad and don't need more than that one iPad.

I'm wondering how accurate or common that assessment is. Do you own other iPads alongside your 10-11 inch model (be it standard, Air, or 11-inch Pro)? Do you just own the one or do you own others? Or do you have a mini and a 12.9-inch Pro and no 10-11 inch model?

The iPad Air 4 is the same size as the 11” pro, so that option doesn’t fit as the user owns a mini, a 10.9 and an 11 inch. But no 12.9
My bad; misread Air as mini for some reason. Although, it's not explicit that there's only one 10-11 inch iPad in the "I also own a mini" or "I also own a 12.9" choices".

Interesting. Which generation is your 12.9" Pro. Assuming your Air 2 is as up to date as can be, how is the browsing experience?
Air2 is on 14.8.1 and works really well for an iPad that's 7yrs old. I skipped iOS15 because I made the mistake of updating to the latest iOS version available on my iPad 3 (9.3.5) and iPad 4 (10.3) and wished I would of left them on the previous versions offered because of the performance/battery hit they took. My 12.9 is the 5th gen M1 variant and has been absolutely fantastic..

Fourth Generation iPad on iOS 10 was surprisingly decent, I found. iOS 9.3.5 on the Third Generation iPad really was utter garbage. But the Third Generation iPad, for being the first retina iPad, was grossly underpowered.

That's really awesome that you've made that combo work well for you! I can definitely see how that system would be awesome!

iPad Pro 10.5 and iPad Mini 5th Gen. The iPad Pro has proven versatile for things like reading PDF manuals and acting as a very compact laptop, but the the mini form factor is ideal for longer sessions when reading ebooks. At work as an audio tech, I often run an audio analyzer on the iPad Pro where the size is a great balance of visibility and ease of placement, and then I use the mini as an always-at-hand remote control surface since I can fit it in a cargo pocket.

I mostly use the Pro‘s, I actually use the Mini the least, I’m on the fence if I should just sell it.

I have owned an iPad Mini since they were introduced in late 2012. I currently own a 5th Generation Mini. I purchased an iPad Air 5th Generation last fall, but I also decided to also keep the Mini and not sell it or trade it in. It still has excellent performance, although the battery life is somewhat degraded due to nearly 4 years of heavy usage. I still use the Mini about a 3rd of the time that I use an iPad, although I am not sure I will keep two iPads when the Mini gets retired for good.

I have a mini along with my 11-inch, but I used the mini first as my main device, and now it's just sorta... sitting there... menacingly... begging to be used... poor thing...

256GB mini 6
256GB Air 5
1TB M1 Pro 11
1TB M1 Pro 12.9

The 12.9 gets used a lot at work as an extra screen for emails, messages, background YouTube, etc. while I'm working on spreadsheets on the dual monitors on the Windows desktop. At home, I rarely use it unless I'm telecommuting.

The mini 6, I use as a big iPhone. It has replaced the 10-11" Air/Pro as my EDC.

The Air 5 and Pro 11, I use for web browsing and Crunchyroll when I'm home. I alternate between the two depending on battery charge. The 1TB Pro 11 is also the only iPad I carry when traveling (unless I need the 12.9 as a second display for telecommuting). I find it to be the perfect in-between for the mini and 12.9 especially now with the new More Space zoom option (M1 iPadOS16).

Yes, in that I replaced my OG 12.9 (2015) with an 11” Pro M1 last week with the sale from Expercom. I will keep the 12.9 and find a use for it.

I have an iPad mini 6 and iPad Pro 11 inch. I use the mini 6 outside of the hosue and in bed. I find the 11 inch far to big and cumbersome to carry around and use outside of the house. It’s also to heavy to use comfortably in bed.
