Upgraded to 10.15, all was working just fine. Upgraded to 10.15.1 and my Mail went wonky. Eating up most of my CPU capacity and keeping the fan running full blast (MacBook Pro 2017). Once I downgraded back to 10.15 things went back to normal. A quick Google search didn't give me any answers. Thoughts?

hi
depending on which mac you are using, the CPU and running fan by itself was nothing to worry a great deal about.
Catalina Mail has problems to be sure, but just after you have updated to Catalina, Mail will be re-indexed and depending on how many GB of data you have this will take time, and, the time during that re-index will use almost all of your available resources it appears to me.

about Catalina Mail's instability: i have complained about it in posts myself. it lost mail (in my case).
but, in my case at least, the problems are no longer happening. i think the Mail in Catalina was taking an exceptionally long time to index even new, incoming new mail, and it needed an excessively long time to run incoming Mail through my set up incoming mail rules etc etc. it couldn't handle it and just wouldn't index well enough whether mail had come in, and therefore apparently got lost or anyway just couldn't be found anymore.
but this is not happening any more, in my case.
i dont know if its safe to say that Catalina Mail is OK now (there seems to be a lot of people claiming its still not safe) but in my case, i am beginning to trust it again...
(running Catalina 10.15.1 (having applied the 1st Supplemental update)
(running Mail Version 13.0 (3601.0.10))
