10.15.2 very slow internet

I'm connected using WPA2.
Everything was fine until I updated to x.x.2.
Matter of fact I was online a few minutes before the update for a few hours and it was perfectly.
Then the moment I boot into x.x.2 I was getting extremely slow internet connection and often no connection at all.

Okay - never noticed this before as I don't push it that hard - but have been monitoring today - and yes I can see the same level of performance drop too.
It's one thing after another - again this is exactly like 10.10 as I saw the same performance problems then.
For the record, I'm connected to a 3802i running 8.5.160 - no other devices have any performance problems, even right next to the MBPr 15 2018 - and they are all FASTLANE connected.

I had a ton of problems on my 2012 MBP as soon as the 15.2 update booted, including the online issues. But first of all, I could no longer shut down. I tried everything multiple times, without solution. (My Mojave clone worked just fine) I then went to do the upgrade with a clean install. Every time I downloaded a new version of the 8GB installer. Then my installer just wouldn't work. It rebooted and copied files for about 5 minutes, and then just never went further. I had to go back and get my clean install clone of High Sierra, and let it do a normal upgrade. Finally, that worked and I got a new boot with Catalina. That's been working fine for a couple weeks, and most of my problems went away. Not the case with the WIFI which keeps switching away from the default 5G to the 2.4G band. I don't do that many file transfers, mostly just internet, so the speeds are not greatly affected. Also, be aware, if you are using Capture-One for shooting or processing, Cat-1 has issued a warning: "DO NOT INSTALL CATALINA 15.2".

Just don't get it with Apple any more. It's like they're just releasing upgrades for the sake of releasing upgrades.
Lot's of people also had major problems with their iphones os 13 until finally when 13.3 came out and it got more stable. For a while they were releasing one update after another.
Just look at some of these dates:

Where's the quality control?

Reminder: 10.6.8 was ? but not before, same goes for 10.3, .4, etc. Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion it was only the last update - and then the rat race starts all over again.
The last 10.10 on were better. The yearly cycle is killing iOS and macOS. Began when iOS teams were brought over to help "fix" Mac OS X - the iOS-ification if the Mac has been a huge gamble and probably failure.

I have my gripes with OS problems as well, but think this is something Apple does very well, compared to the competition anyway. I remember the "bad old days" in the early stages of OS X, where I would lose my scanners and printers every two weeks when Apple came out with new "patches" just to keep the OS functional. The photo lab manager at NU aged 10 years in just 2. Drivers were very temporary. Then came the crossover to Intel chips which was also painful, as I was taking care of the Art labs with 40 Macs from G4s to Mac Pros. I know that my biggest reason to have a Mac is the OS.
I am still using my original 2009 Mac Pro and have used nine OS versions. In that time, the OS has added annual support for software and hardware innovation, along with a few boot ROM flashes... In the drive bays , even the fastest SSDs can only get 275MB/s. With the addition of NVMe technology, my 970 boot drive gets 2800MB/s, as an example.
Run Activity Monitor and select the Network tab to show the current activity and the most active applications (which in my case is Mail!)

STOP quoting out of context, my statement was part of a hypothetical, and needed the first half of the sentence to understand why I included that comment. If you mistakenly installed 15.2 and use Capture-1 ver20 or earlier, I hope you will consider your recklessness more carefully next time. I am running 15.2, and the only problem for my aging 2012 MBP is the intermittent WIFI slowing or switching off the 5G connection. And due to Apple's rigorous point updates, I expect the problem to disappear shortly. I would suggest you switch to Windows. Then you'll really have stuff to complain about...
I have 2015 MacBook, 10.5.2, band new Motorola modem, new WiFi 6 router (near double up/down) and use different name/password for 2.4 and 5Ghz.
Real bad cell signal so on phones I tend to use WiFi but with Airplane mode on.
I can see WiFi from homes up and down the block and in back so some but not a lot of congestion. Not like dense urban areas. The reason for new equipment, multiple lightning storms and nearby hits including some scary transformers that exploded on the corner. Took over a month for ISP to clear their mess from that August summer storm. And everything is grounded and on UPS but it was too much. Second time in about 12 years. JS

ISP was plus severe lightning so equipment while not 100% dead was having problems, not always, but intermittent.
Mediacom cable use to have great user forum but guess it was too good, now zip and everything is gone automated or horrid phone tech support.
Always suspect things like modem and even how 10.5 changed and dropped support for older weak protocols. Get your ISP to ping your modem. Log into modem and check for errors. Same router. Wifi6 has had firmware updates.
