I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro and I recently replaced my battery from OWC this past spring, and I have had great battery life with all the updates until now.. the most recent supplemental update to Catalina on my MacBook is now killing my battery... anyone else having this issue?? Anyone else on a 2012 MacBook having this issue? This supplemental update is killing my battery so fast.. Normal usage(Internet) and my MacBook isn't even running hot.

What makes you think the update is "killing your battery"?

Click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the menubar, press the option-key, select System Information.... Under Power->Health Information:->Condition: what does it say?

Oh, and which "most recent supplemental update?" The August one? Or the unreleased one?

Maybe try doing a SMC reset.

Thanks,... But tried it just now and it is still draining my battery. In just a few minutes I went from 100% to 95%.

To everyone else: My battery condition says normal, and this started happening after the August Supplemental update. Hopefully the next supplemental update will get this back to working normal for me.

How long ago did you apply the 10.15.6 Supplemental update? When you click on the battery symbol in the Menubar do you see anything under Using Significant Energy?

@byziphone4 Do you still have this problem? I’ve encountered it also, 10.15.7 didn’t solve. I temporarily fixed it by ’sudo pmset -b tcpkeepalive 0’ but it crashes Find my Mac in sleeping mode. If you know something new about it, please let me know.

I'm actually in almost the same boat as you! Also on a 2012 MacBook Pro and a relatively newly installed OWC battery. Only difference is that I'm experiencing the battery drain in Catalina 10.15.7, the latest one as of this writing.

Weirdest thing that happened is that my battery percentage plummeted from 34% 7% in a matter of minutes! Without doing anything intensive! Though I suspect that it also might be because my battery is fairly new and still needs to be calibrated more? [I've already calibrated a bunch of times, though. ?]

No impact to battery usage from the 2020-005 update on mine. But I'm still on the original battery at 808 cycles. I do have the sleep-drain problem that is impacting lots of older models, but that was already before the 2020-005.

It might just be that you two both had coincidentally timed failures of your newish OWC batteries.
