I'm trying to downgrade from OS X 10.15 to the previous version 10.14
However, when I visit the Apple store and click "Get" on the Mojave 10.14 link it says that the Install MacOS is too old to open.
Is there a place I can get hold of a Mojave version and somehow make a bootable external drive from it?

No problems at all. I used a USB Installer and an external hard drive and reinstalled 10.14.5. After that all my external display issues disappeared and my mbp ran like it used to. Unfortunately 10.14.6 created issues with external monitors which extended well into Catalina. After Catalina bricke my mbp i have no upgraded and looking at the problems there after am not game anymore.
