Any word on speed (of redraws, and well...everything?) How much of a difference does Quartz Extreme make?

Apparently...

...QuartzGL (please call it that, "extreme" is horrible) provides quite a boost on supported computers, although trying to run it on less than a rev B TiBook's card (16meg radeon) will be slower than software Quartz. Apparently Quartz has two parts:
Quartz2D: draws objects into offscreen buffer
Quartz Compositor: draws the offscreen buffer to the screen with all the transparency and spiffy stuff.

QuartzGL accelerates the Quartz Compositor with OpenGL. According to an ATI employee, Quartz2D is too complex/advanced to accelerate with today's cards.

QuartzGL

I've heard AGPx2.

What might be needed to run it through AGPx1?
Would more ram, faster or not released GPU make up the difference between x1 and x2 AGP?

I was just considering lifespan of my 450 sawtooth.

No mention of Core Audio.

But there is a MIDI control panel. At least I think so; I saw it in a pic of it on one of the rumor sites. Then again, maybe someone just added it after the base install.

Lets just hope that this is a sign that Apple is getting off their arses in respect to audio.
