Hey guys, I updated my computer through software update to 10.4.4 last night and now my computer has an odd problem. Randomly, the fans turn on and progressively increase their noise. To be more specific: it sounds as though the hard drive is spinning more, and the fans get louder and louder to a noise level where I've never heard them at before. They continue to do this until I get worried about the machine and put it to sleep. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might fix this?

A powermac duo 1.8 G5. It's doing it right now and the noise is unbelievable. It's louder than the air conditioner and fan. This really worries me.

Great. I went through disk utility and tried to verify the disk and got this report:

Volume Header needs minor repair
be repaired.",1)
Macintosh HD
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked

What the heck do I do?
