I just got an iPad Pro 10.5 yesterday, and I did the usual check to see if it's okay. Before I did anything extreme like viewing a black image in a dark room, I thought the right 1/4 of the screen (when in landscape), so the bottom 1/4 of the iPad when held normally) looked a sort of pinkish hue compared to the rest of the screen.

I then did the black background check, and I saw that there is a bit of a backlight bleed - but not really where I thought. The issue, to me, is most noticeable in the middle, but as you can see from this photo, the source of the bleed actually appears to be the bottom (see bottom right corner), not the middle.

Is my mind playing tricks on me? Does the photo look so pink because of the anti-reflective coating? Should I exchange or is this a decent iPad screen?

Thanks for your help in advance.

EDIT: While I'm here, I also have a volume decrease button that is looser feeling than the volume increase button, which feels pretty solid. Is this normal?

Some have experienced inconsistency issues with the volume buttons being loose and rattling. But that solely up to you as far as the return is concerned if it's functioning normally.

Also, as far as your display is concerned, I personally would return it based Off what I'm seeing. Are you able to see any other distortions when using the iPad normally?

The pink parts of the photos are curious as I'm not sure if it could be the coating. During normal use I do have this perception that I simply cannot shake, that the right hand side is yellower/pinker than the left hand side (when viewed in landscape)

I think you will find backbleeding on most if not all iPads. It is just part of having a backlit screen. Until our iPads go to OLED there will be some issues when the backlight is cranked up to high and you are looking at a black screen while in a closet.

But what about the discolouration on the side of the screen? I notice that during normal use

If you notice discoloration under normal viewing, no doubt you should take it back. Hope you find one without. Mine does not exhibit it so there must be others.
Well I'm wondering if it's my eyes playing tricks on me... it's strange. White is a very difficult colour to begin with, as it really is just red, green, and blue all together.

Do not know what to tell you. Maybe if the Apple Store is near, go and look at others and see if you see the same.

That's better than one I had

Yeah, to be honest probably gonna stick with this one, very happy with battery life and the screen issue is not really noticeable, if at all.

I hate LCD screens had to go though (7) iPad Air 2 two years ago first three had light bleed the next three had dust under screen no light bleed the seventh one is perfect no stuck/dead pixels no light bleed to this day I still using it.
