Hi all,

I've got a 10.5 iPad Pro. As I have the keyboard I almost exclusively use it on it's side. The touch ID works great to unlock the iPad... right up until the point I plug it in to charge at which point it stops working. As soon as I take it off charge the touch ID works again.

I did a search and could only find things relating to it being due to using a cheap charging cable but this is the one Apple included in the box.

Anyone any ideas why touch ID won't work while the iPad is on charge?

I intermittently have the same issue, regardless of cable. Have the same problem on my iPhone 6. On the phone I find if I touch the metal rear Apple plate it works every time. Like a grounding issue. I need to try the same thing in the iPad.

I have read before if your outlet is not grounded properly this issue can arise. Does it happen in all outlets or just one specific outlet? I had this happen to me in a hotel with my iPhone 6 once. Instead of plugging it directly into the outlet, I plugged it into a travel surge protector I carry and Touch ID started working again.
