10.6.6 Patch for 4870 Cards

Hello!

I've been running 10.6.4 with the patches supplied by Keita_1 from this thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/943259/ for months now. Thanks Keita_1 I really appreciate your efforts! I just tried upgrading to 10.6.6 and haven't been able to get my ATI Radeon HD 4870 video card working completely. I've tried the 10.6.6 patch from Netkas.org and it doesn't make any difference to the functionality of the card. The video card works as far as basic display, but only one monitor works and there isn't any QL+CI (graphics acceleration) working. So, I'm wondering if there is a new 10.6.6 patch like the one created in the previously mentioned thread? I'm willing to donate a small bit if I can get a working 10.6.6 patch!

There has never been a patch for 4870.
Netkas patches has never been for 4870

What some 4870's need are not patched drivers, but old drivers.
Those driver pkgs are simply drivers from older OS versions.

Therefore you should be fine by reinstalling that driver package that worked for you in 10.6.4.

I gave that a try: I loaded a fresh 10.6 install from DVD, then updated to 10.6.6 and installed the patch that worked for the 10.6.4 install (whichI install twice to get working on 10.6.4), and what I end up with is two screens that are a solid blue. They occasionally flicker from light to darker blue but I'm not sure why. That's it, the computer doesn't seem like its hung, because I can hear drives seeking...

Are there any other settings I can play with in the ext Info.plist files? I haven't seen anywhere that documents what the settings do, I didn't expect to find one but who knows...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

10.6.6 patch

Hi emoseman. I had created the patch a while ago here. Just click on the link and to get to the download page. It should resolve your problems.

Keita - your patch worked for me as well. I have a flashed XFX ATI 4870 with 1GB vram and dual DVI. QE/CI working fine. Device ID: 0x00009440.
