So as you can see by the title, I've been holding off on downloading 10.6.7 because of all the complaints about it...now my question to you is: Is it safe to download???

Of course it's safe. Don't let a small number of complaints in a forum give you the false impression that there's something wrong with the update. They're not representative of the majority of Mac users.

+1 Most people never have a problem, and of those people that DO have a problem, most really don't have a problem, its usually a PEBKAC error.

Hasn't changed since it came out so yeh. Haven't had a problem with it yet on my iMac, MacBook, MacBook pro, or MacMini. not one issue. Actually haven't had an issue with any os x update that I can ever remember. I think it's only a few that do have issues.

I belong to the cat of "small numbers of complaints"... i think.

Not taking the risk to update 10.6.7. again. Happy with 10.6.6. Not much of an improvement to talk about too...

Yeah it's safe to update now. Just be sure to run software updater again after you updated. There is an extra update for Macbook Airs, that fix the iTunes freeze bug.

Just make sure to not use the combo update. Just use the software update download. The GPU slow-downs seem to be related to the combo update somehow, as people who had bad gaming performance in 10.6.7 "fixed" their problem by restoring their system and then applying updates piece by piece instead of using the combo.

Yeah, updating using the Combo update was such a PEBKAC error and I guess the iTunes issue that Apple issued a fix for was too.

Apple ships software with bugs. It happens to every software vendor. As a software developer Chrono, you should know this and not blame the user every time something goes wrong. That seems really anti-productive in resolving issues.

Anyway, I haven't updated either. 10.6.6 works fine, why bother.

10.6.7 enables you to install the TRIM Support Enabler program that's discussed in the Mac Pro forums. We'll get official TRIM support when Lion comes out, though.
