Hi First post ...

XFX 5770 Dispalyport stops working after the latest update to 10.6.8 in my MacPro 1.1

- dvi ports working fine
- displayport was working fine in 10.6.7

any ideas? thanks

take the clone of 10.6.7 that you have and use it.

If you don't have a clone of 10.6.7 ask around and see if someone has one.

from now on always keep a clone of 2 osx's the current one and one older.

Works fine for my 1,1 pro. DVI for 1st monitor, MDP to DVI adapter for 2nd monitor.

Should be able to grab the kexts on the net from 10.6.7 and update with those to get it back.

Happened to mine too. MacPro1,1 with Flashed Powercolor 5770 worked great up through 10.6.7. I run 2 DVI displays and an active dual link DP-DVI to a third monitor. After 10.6.8 my third monitor doesn't display anything now. In display preference it shows the monitor as being there but the display is blank.

Anyone know specifically what kext's I need to revert in order to get this back? And what is the process? Copy over kext's and then do a permission repair?

Thanks

My display weirded out after the update too. Running a flashed 5770 that worked great for the last six months. Now it only loads up at 800x600. Running a single monitor via DVI to VGA adapter out of a single port.

Tried a fresh install of Snow Leopard and Time Machine backup to before it happened, but no luck. Still only have 800x600.

System Profile shows two graphics cards now (can't remember if it was two before the upgrade). One has drivers loaded, the other doesn't.

Any suggestions?

I've just added in my old 7300gt to run my third monitor.

Don't want to mess with kext's lol

That is plan B for me. I originally ran like this but the 7300 just adds more power draw that I wanted to get rid of if I could. I do want to run lion on this so if I have to I will add it back in if lion doesn't support the dp on 5770.

So does this mean that a flashed 5770 doesn't work but a "real" one from Apple works for all? Either way I'm glad I ponied up the money to buy from the Apple store to avoid hassles.

You take your chances when using a flashed card, that's all there is to it. I have an 'Apple' 5770 and there were no issues upgrading to 10.6.8, I have two Samsung 22" monitors that are DVI, one is connected to the single DVI port the other via a display port to DVI cable, no issues.

The flashed 5770 still works fine in 10.6.8, just 3 monitor support is lost. Two monitors on the two dvi ports work fine still.
