I am trying to access the /usr/local on my machine but it does not exist

the machine is running 10.7.5

most makefiles will create /usr/local if it does not already exist.

the usual values are
permissions: 755
owner:root
group:wheel

(you may also need to augment your PATH)

Just create it. What's the issue?

the issue is i thought it is usually automatically there.
but I guess its not there just because there hasn't been any been any software installed that has triggered creating a local
