I went on software update and downloaded the new release and my computer did not ask me to restart after so I restarted. Now When I try to click update it just switches to installed but it isn't.

Duff-Man says....as usual, if you have an issue getting the auto-updater version installed the easiest thing to try first is to download the update (I usually grab the combo version just to have on hand) and run it manually. In most cases this gets you where you need to be....oh yeah!

Had the same issue. THink it was because I hit update all and the iPhoto update came up with a message saying I needed 10.8.2. I restarted my computer then reopened the App store and just started the 10.8.2 update, and it instantly came up with the restart dialog box. Try that

MBP Retina frozen during updates

I ran the Software Update on my early version MPB Retina and it said it would install iTunes 10.7, MBP Retina EFI update 1.0 and OS X Update 10.8.2, and also at the bottom of the list was iPhoto. A reboot would be required. I clicked Update All.

The screen went grey but legible and the status says waiting: that was 4 hours ago and the thing hasn't done a thing since.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tried to update through the app store. The update seem to work fine, but at the end I got an error, stating that the update was damaged and that I had to try again. But the update doesn't appear in the app store again.

So I downloaded the update combo, to update my iMac manually. Tried to open the image file, but got an error saying the image file was damaged and couldn't be opened.

I've pretty much had it for today.

Downloaded 'the update', not the combo, and that finally worked.

Must say, I had a lot of problems updating my iPhone, iPad and iMac. Can't remember the time a transition to new Apple system software was so problematic.
