Some time ago I identified an issue that blocked OpenCl from working on cards with more than 2GB. Netkas took this knowledge and created a fix.

LOTS of people tried to install the fix but as it was a bit fiddly and required following instructions TO THE LETTER there were many problems.

Apple has finally decided to stop knee capping the better cards and with 10.8.3 there is NO LONGER A BLOCK FOR CARDS WITH MORE THAN 2GB !!!!!

Yep, all GTX580 3GB and GTX570 2.5GB cards should now be able to work just fine with OpenCl apps with no additional fixes or messing about with hex editors. This applies to both EFI cards and non-EFI cards.

Whew!!!!

So what's the most powerful card now???

When will Titan be able to be used 6gb FTW!

Hello,

so I'm not a lucky boy, because my GTX 570 with 1.28 GB non EFI is no longer recognized by luxmark (although it worked fine before).

And my GT 640 4GB does not work too.

:(

what about Open GL?

Apple OSX it does not have support for latest Opengl. In fact it's one year behind even Linux!!! This says everything about Apple commitment to the pro market. I mean, even Linux witch is open source(as in free) has support for OpenGL 4.3, while Apple is still at.... 3.2! So for 3d the way is Linux or Windows with far more better support. Apple is only interested in consumers and itoys, it has zero support for pros.

16 compute units after upgrade instead of 64 units?

I have just tried Luxmark 2.0 and saw the following:
With my NVIDIA GTX 580 3 GB (low power version from Vidcards) I have now only 16 compute units under OpenCL 1.2 instead of 64 compute units under Open CL 1.1 , running Lion 10.7.5. What has happened there? The benchmark shows lower scores than in 10.7.5 (lower compute unit number) Any suggestions?

10.8.3 clearly demonstrates that the new Mac Pro is coming.

Although I'm looking forward to upgrading from my 6870 to something with a boot screen!!

7950 Mac Edition Firmware onto a PC 7950 please!!
