Hey,

Before I upgrade, I was wondering if 10.8.3 is "safe" for my mac pro:

Specs: '09 Mac Pro Quad
Startup Drive: Intel SSD's in a Raid 0 config
Hard Drives: Caviar Black's in Raid 0
Bootcamp Drive and Time Machine Drive on an a 2tera byte internal as well
Video Card: the 'fancy' ATI card at the time, running two screens.

The reason I ask is because I have really regretted updating the os on my desktop in the past.. how has 10.8.3 been for mac pros with a similar config?

thanks!

mixed bag for people who've upgraded GPU to PC style variants, but overall most are reporting no MAJOR issues. suggest you clone your system drive, then if you have issues can resort back quickly.

Sounds like you're one of those folks who don't backup first.

Clone your entire system partition to a backup drive or a DMG file first. Just view it as being a manual (and required) step in the upgrade process.

Then do the 8.3 upgrade+migration and give it a full week of use. When you find something you dislike about the new installation do a search for ways to disable, restore previous, or circumvent the feature.

After the week has passed then you will know if 8.3 is for you or for the birds and you will have an easy way to get back to the starting point by restoring from the backup drive or DMG file.

With every upgrade there will always be someone who has issues with it. The silent majority typically will not have any troubles. The 8.3 upgrade is not an exception. ;)
