Anyone any ideas?

Going to reinstall, so I might just jump to Mavericks now as it seems OK on my MacBook Pro.

wonder if your

com.bresink.driver.BRESINKx86Monitoring 7.0

doesn't work with 10.8.5...try removing it?

It appears that version 7.0 of this extension is out of date- 9.0 is in the current version of Hardware Monitor.

Having this too on my Mac Pro 5,1 ...

...haven't had time to track it down yet, so I expect more to follow.

Stupid question though:

com.bresink.driver.BRESINKx86Monitoring 7.0

If version 9 is the most current, then whose 'auto update' feature failed to maintain it?

Time for Mavericks, I think.

Yup, going to mavericks.

Completely reinstalled and same problem, they've really buggered 10.8.5 up.

Nope.

Mavericks (all the DPs), are fine.

As is 10.8 to 10.8.4.

Apple clearly just buggered 10.8.5 up!!

FYI, in reading today on this kernel panic bit, I found a report that it might be traceable in some Mac Pros to the inclusion of the OWC "Accelsior" PCIe SSD card.

...also, going into System Preferences and setting 'computer sleep' to Never might also be a temporary patch.

I don't have one of them.

I do however have a SATA III Card so I'm going to begrudgingly take that out and test.

Going to go back to 10.8.4 as it seems mavericks, very worryingly, has the same issue even though it was fine :/

Rocket 640L (not RAID! - but uses the same/a similar chipset for both) and OS X drivers.

Edit: I think I found the issue - my SATA 3 card.

Uses a Marvell 88SE9230 chip...

Ok my findings are as follows:

1. My SATA III card (Rocket 640L based on a Marvell 88SE9230), seems to work 100% OK as long as you don't sleep the machine (but sleeps and wakes in Windows 7 x64). Mac Pro as a whole passes Linpack, so hardware is OK. I have how plugged all the disks - bar windows, into the Mac Pro SATA ports and all is well.

2. As long as the card is in the machine (even if no disks are plugged in to it), OS X 10.8.5 or Mavericks DP 6 or later makes the machine KP and restart on wake.

3. Given the OWC card, which also uses a Marvell chip (the same 88SE9230) is having similar issues, I would hazard a guess that the driver in OS X in 10.8.5 and Mavericks DP 5 (at a guess, as I had DP 1 and 2 installed previously and that was fine), has been upgraded/changed causing this issue.

4. I will install 10.8.4 tomorrow and test again, if that is OK then I will stick with 10.8.4 until Mavericks or Apple fix this ****-up. Hopefully, with OWC on the case for their accelsior card, it will also fix my card (long shot!)

I herd OWC us giving replacement card with a small fee for the new 2 card. So call them and speak with honey.

Update - FIXED!

Flashed my Rockets firmware to a new version and the problem is now FIXED.

Kudos to Highpoint for replying to my support ticket and supplying the new firmware!!!

I have the exact same problem with 10.8.5 and a Highpoint Rocket 644L, uses the same chipset you've mentioned. I'm trying to figure out now how to make a bootable USB stick with DOS. Have you noticed any changes in speed or reliability of eSATA drives since the firmware update?

Same Issue

Same issue here... OWC Mercury Accelsior causing Mavericks to crash on wake.
MARVELL Raid VD 0 MEDIA.

Good to see we have some commonality here, but OWC tells me there are "many many customers" without this problem. Hmm...

Highpoint tech support sent me a new firmware which is supposed to fix the problem, but the flashing tool requires a PC, so I can't try it. Mac users can boot to DOS on a USB stick, but I have an unsupported GPU in my Mac Pro, so I can't see anything on the monitor until OS X is loaded.
Maybe OWC is shipping cards with the newer firmware, and that's why many customers have no problem.

OWC informs me that this is a "known issue" and that they are working on a fix. No release date is available.

Any info on OWC Accelsior Field Update or Replacement Program

Found this Discussion over at Apple if anyone is interested in this topic.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/25055625?tstart=0#25055625

This thread helped me finally solve the mystery of the crash from wake issue I have been having since starting my move to 10.8.5 a month ago.

I have had an Accelsior installed in my MacPro 2009 since July 2012 running 10.6.8.
I started my move to 10.8.5 by doing a clean install on a partition on one of my Hard Drives.
NOT on the Accelsior.
Even running 10.8.5 (and 10.9.4 on another) on a Hard drive I would still have this sleep from wake issue.
I tried many ways to solve this issue.

After finding this discussion I removed the Accelsior and that did the trick.
So this issue can be caused just by having the Accelsior installed in the Mac.

All this being said I would like to find out if anyone on this forum knows what came about with the "Field Solution"
OWC was trying to come out with and if there is a "Replacement Program" still being honored.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
I really need to get this issue solved because I do use this card as my boot drive and
there is a HUGE difference as compared to when running off an HD as I currently am.
