running 10.6.8 - I've always hated updates over existing system, seems messy.
But now i've a lot of stuff configured as i want and moving all data, wiping it clean, moving all back and seeing up all my apps again will not be fun.

what will you do ? just let the update process paste over your existing 1.6 / 10.6 or do a clean install ?

I'm doing a clean install. For how messy Lion is in general, and the fact that a software update forced some people to reinstall only recently, I would not trust an update to go smoothly.

I don't think it'll let you just update either being that you're on Snow Leopard BTW.

clean install is preferred - i'm just not looking forward to it.

wrong. 10.8 can be pasted over 10.6.8

Depends on how messy your computer is. Mine came with Leopard and I've just done an upgrade for Snow Leopard and Lion. I think I'm gonna do a clean install this time, if only to force myself to get rid of some of the unnecessary junk that's built up since 2009... ;)
