I have a bought a pre patched hard drive with mac osx 10.9.5 for my Mac pro1.1 ( 2006 ) and also updated my graphics card to the HD 5770 which works great.

The thing is time has passed and I now need to update to OSX 10.10

Is this possible to update via the normal mac update or will this crash my mac if I try to update via apple appstore / itunes ect?

Anyone know if this is possible?

Yosemite is no longer available in the app store unless you had purchased it previously.
You'll need to replace the boot EFI files on the 10.10 installation before it will boot.
There is a very verbose thread on how to do just that located here, good luck.:D
