After pre-ordering via Apple Upgrade Program at 3:07a and receiving the phone late on 11/3, imagine my surprise when the screen went black and wouldn't come back on. I was receiving audio, taptic feedback and even watch notifications but just a black screen. Went through the reset and charging steps...nothing. Brought it to a local Apple store and they confirmed that the display had given out but they "had not received the replacement displays or adhesive yet because it's too new". I thought I was porked but out they came with a replacement device ready to go (256gb grey). I asked if anyone else had reported issues such as this and they said I was the first.

Anyone else had issues like this with the display just giving out?

...nice that they took care of you there and then! Even more so since the device is so new, they have 'emergency' devices available. Once again, great Customer Service by Apple. I guess this is partly why we, as consumers, pay a premium.

My first 3Gs ran 6 months and data modem crapped out
Genius replaced it with another unit.
Before is was even a block from the Apple store the screen started to tear and stayed that way on restart.
Genius replaced it again with a warning that this was the last replacement they were going todo.
Premium device ?

Within 28 days of purchase they will just replace the device. Especially with new product lines so that the faulty units can be returned quickly for inspection. This is the best time to buy as they readily replace units with even minor faults or blemishes.
