Hi,

I bought one of these about 10 days ago and just want to share my experience. Some of the issues are quite common while others are not, I think.
My configuration: 2GHz, 2GB, 80GB Hd
I did a fresh install with most language packs disabled and only a few printer drivers. Then I decided to convert all my accounts and data from my now retired iBook G4 (also 80GB HD, so no unecessary printer drivers;-).

Now to the issues:
- whenever I plug in or out my external Monitor (I used it with my iBook befor with the dual-head-patch), the settings for the background image on one of the screens get lost. Opening the Prefenrences Pane, all looks fine but it requires a few clicks to make the settings take effect. This one does not prevent me from working but it is annoying!
- the trackpad sometimes loses its two-finger-tab feature and again, I need to open the Prefs Pane and deactivate/activate it there to make it work. This does not seem to be reproducable but is annoying as well.

The usual things:
- it gets hot. Much hotter than my iBook (1.25GHz) ever got.
- very little whining (not from day one but about one week after purchase)
- no mooing;-) Maybe because CPU load rarely exceeds 20%...
- sometimes it simply does not reconnect to my Airport Express automatically and I need to select the network manually.

The Pros:
- very fast. I do some development work and I'm using FreeBSD with Parallels (one of the reasons to switch to an intel Mac was the possibility to take all my development environments with me, no PCs required;-).
- PPC Apps work fine
- The black one simply looks greate!

i dont think this is a fault, it remembers the last image you set for that particular display and shows it the next time. It is so if you have a huge screen attached you don't have a low res image which looks really pixellated (probably spelt wrong). I know i got really confused first time it happened to me too!
as to the heat and mooing, i dont find this a problem, maybe i hit lucky (just dont put it directly ontop of your sensitive parts!:D
hope you enjoy the macbook

Oh, I know how it SHOULD behave. Just remember the settings form before you detachted the screen then. But it does not. It simply resets the settings for the external screen to some sort of default... I know the difference because it worked fine with the iBook (latest OS on each machine)...

But maybe I should just get rid of the imported settings from the iBook and try again... I'll try that when I'm back home;-)
