Not bad considering the fact that this 5" behemoth known as the Galaxy Note is mostly a niche product.

As an aside, for those that did not know, Samsung held an event this morning. It introduced officially the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet with ICS. A lot of impressive things for a company that doesn't "innovate". Side-by-side applications, a lot of great S-pen gestures and features. 499$ too and available tomorrow in the states.

Said it before but I've seen quite a few when out and about, especially at places where a lot of people just go to hang out after work or lunch etc and do some work. Surprised by how many Notes I've seen, even meeting a few of my clients they were using Notes so there's def demand in that demographic.

I don't care for it, just not for me, but they obviously nailed their niche target perfectly. Some people think it's a fail, not sure why, they could barely keep them in stock, and it was never meant to sell in the numbers of something like the iPhone or GSII etc. For a niche product, especially a phone that size, impressive it sold what it did.

That's because when you're not having a carrier subsidize it you realize that its very overpriced. Once the carriers stop giving apple an extra 200 dollars in subsidies over other phones people will start looking elsewhere.

I have heard many people that aren't really the people talk about the note so it is popular in the US.

That's because when you're not having a carrier subsidize it you realize that its very overpriced. Once the carriers stop giving apple an extra 200 dollars in subsidies over other phones people will start looking elsewhere.

I remember in Russia an iPhone 4 is something like $1000 USD. That's insane. S. Korea and the U.S. are probably the top markets for the Note.

I work in NYC, I haven't seen too many notes, maybe around 3. All were women. I think the fact that most women have bags on them negates the issue of the size.

Funny, the endgaget review says the opposite, that instead of going for what others are going for, specifications, Samsung have set themselves apart and created something different. They think it will hurt them in the end, making the Note a niche product because it relies on the S-pen functionality.

No matter what happens to its commercial viability, you can't say that the features the Note 10.1 introduces to Android tablets are uninspired.

No, they tried to capitalize off of the success of the Note by rushing out a mediocre tablet. Most reviews find the Note 10.1 to be overly cluttered and slow (despite its powerful processor). It's a half-baked product with no new ideas and no innovation.

Don't confuse this with Windows XP tablets of old, this is not the same kind of eco-system. There's plenty of new ideas and innovation in the Snote and Spen feature that the Note 10.1 brings, why not acknowledge it and just say they don't appeal to you instead of stating as a fact something that appears to be flamebait for other forum posters ?

I haven't seen another tablet using a pressure sensitive pen for realistic writing and drawing. I haven't seen another tablet come stock with split screen capability. And I wouldn't say this tablet was rushed. The Note has been out for quite a while now.

I don't know enough about the Note 10.1 besides those two things to comment further, but considering Apple has done very little in the innovation and design depart in the last couple of years, it seems this is more of the pot calling the kettle black.

Nice pic. Don't see very many Hummers on the road any more. Not with gas prices continuing north of 4 bucks a gallon. My next car will be something like the Chevy volt. Fully electric, but when the battery dies after 100 miles a regular gas engine kicks in, not to propel the car, but to maintain the battery charge. Which gets you another 300 miles before you have to fill up with gas. Once you get near a normal outlet, charge the car so you don't use gas anymore.

I may look at one. I considered an iphone too, yet I'm not switching carriers due to issues with AT&T and not liking the available plans/pricing on Verizon. I may switch to a prepaid plan as a couple looked like they cost less, but I need to look at details. I only use voice/text/maps and email.

I'm aware of the constant exaggeration on here. It's pretty ridiculous as they talk everything down without looking at it.
