100 MB Download Limit Removed?

I was able to successfully download a 400MB app update over LTE. The limit use to be only 100MB. Is it possible they removed this limitation?

I also downloaded a 1.24Gb app just fine over LTE although I still got the 100MB warning. I wonder if this is just a bug?

I hope it stays gone. For someone who has 20gb of data a month to use I would appreciate if Apple didn't artificially restrict me. I should be allowed to use as much data as I want.

I was given the warning that I would need wi-fi to download the two app updates that were 480MB each. I hit ok and watched it download both files. Ha. Good thing for unlimited data plans.

A toggle (or even a slider) would be good for the data conscious but I'd like to see this stay off too.

Same for me. With the 30GB data plan on AT&T and rollover data I have about 50-55GB a month.

Yes a few times it's been removed during beta. Esp when there upping the limit. With that said a lot of the time people still get confused as it's often a delta update.

iOS app updates are not now, nor have they ever been, deltas. Very few apps download large assets immediately either. The downloaded and running size is frequently higher because of compression, that much is true.

Well I stand corrected but I sure wish devs would make a better job of using this because I don't recall ever seeing an update significantly smaller than the initial download

Do you mean as far as the size that is listed in the Updates section? If so, for whatever reason, that number is often not what actually gets downloaded--it's generally closer to what the full size of the app is, although it's not always the same either.

Yep, that one. Office apps in particular seem full size every time and take as long to download as I'd imagine the size would.

In any case, I throw my hands up and admit I was wrong

Here's to hoping it stays off. Us people in Nordic countries generally have unlimited mobile broadband and it's utterly infuriating to have this ridiculous artificial limitation. A lot of the people I know do not even HAVE any WIFI and and it's extremely annoying that iOS refuses to do iCloud backups and OS updates over cellular.

I get limited with anything that seems to be >140MB in size since the beta. I'm still on an old AT&T Unlimited plan, so it doesn't bother me what size the download is, but for those who are on limited plans, I could see the limit being good. Allowing each user a slider to determine their cellular network max app download size would be good.

I haven' t read up much about iOS10 but I was wondering if the 100mb download limit had been removed? Especially from the Podcasts app?

It's been removed.
At least here in Australia.

This 100MB limit is super annoying. It seemed reasonable back when apps are still simple. Now, even a simple chat/social media apps are already over 100MB. Plus there are times when LTE is the only reliable internet I have during traveling.

Hopefully it is removed for good, or put the limit at something higher, like 500MB+.

Here, same, Australia. It is not being removed. Your case may be because app thinning shrinks down app size to somewhere under 100MB.
