I looked online and it seems Apple is now offering a 100GB internal drive for the Mac mini....

I have a 100GB 5400rpm drive in my powerbook, and I didn't notice any difference between it and the stock 4200

That will definatly be true, you need to boost to 7200rpm to really notice something, and even that will only be noticed in tasks that need to access the hard drive....
