1080i with Component Cables?

I have my Apple TV connected to my Sony TV, using Component Video and 1080i and it looks great...
What size TV's are you guys hooked up to???
I am still leary of howTV will look on my 65 inch TV
57" Samsung DLP 1080p HDTV.

I've read several reviews (not sure they're not all based on a single report) that HD on AppleTV looks better than HD cable, though not as good as Blu-Ray. I've also talked to people who say that HD cable isn't as good as it should be due to compression artifacts (I don't have much experience with HD cable).
I have a 34" Sony HD TV, and it looks good.
You might check it out at the Apple Store - seems like they have it hooked up to a decent sized LCD for demos...

I checked at the Apple Store, not a good comparison. The LCDs there are only 48 inch
i actually had mine hooked up through component and using 1080i, went and got a HDMI cable and tried 1080p -- it took several seconds to get a good signal when selecting inputs on my 40" samsung LCD -- so i went back to component. i don't think there's a huge difference for me. apparently my TV upscales a 1080i signal to progressive just because it's LCD
It is impossible to be spoiled by HD cable. HD cable sucks. iTunes HD content on an AppleTV will look better than HD cable. In my experience, over the air HD is the best quality available (I don't have Blu-Ray or HD-DVD). I am still pissed Comcast can get away with calling their over compressed garbage HD. If I didn't like baseball and basketball so much, I would drop cable in a New York Minute. I have been looking at FiOS, but they are just as costly as Comcast, making it not worth the effort to switch.
I could be wrong, but I thought Comcast's policy was to pass along the OTA-HD signals unmolested. In my area (Delaware County), my clearQAM locals look indistguishable to OTA-locals.
Now, the premium-HD channels might be a different story. I guess Comcast would just take whatever the cableHD-networks send them and pass that through. It may not be 19.2 Mbps, and that might be the problem ... although I have no basis for this as I'm a clearQAM subscriber.

I have a 60" Sony SXRD 60A2000, and the AppleTV looks great. DVD sources look just as good as my old Oppo upscaling DVD player or my PS3, and HD sources look excellent even at 720p. The only quality issue I have seen is that I got spoiled with HD 1080p out of the PS3 Blu-ray with such a high bitrate. The
TV can't really support files with such a high bitrate so you will get macro blocking on fast motion or panning scenes typically with HD sources, but overall I still think it looks really good. I'm very happy with it. I've encoded some HD sources to be anywhere from 1GB - 5GB per TV show/movie and they look just as good as broadcast TV.I have a 56" Mitsubishi wide-screen (built around 2000) hooked up to ATV via Component cables and it looks great.
Well.. I just got my 40 gb atv. I like it so far....
However..I for some reason thought it would come with cables (Silly me, I should have known this)
Anyway.. I have a hooked it up on my older toshiba 61 rear projection tv and it looks good at 1080i. I have to use component cables.
I have since moved it to its final location (the bedroom) and hooked it up via component to a newer 37 LCD. It doesn't have HDMI, but does have DVI.
My question is...
Is it worth buying the mini HDMI cable to DMI cable? Will I see any improvements over my component cables? I don't think the TV does 1080P.
What do you think?
